A group of birds scurrying at the foot of a column. In the foreground a turkey, behind it a hen with chicks and two peacocks. Hondecoeter enlivened his bird paintings with little vignettes. Here the focus is on the hen taking care for her chicks, surrounded by large and intimidating birds.
