Girl in white kimono Sale

George Hendrik Breitner (1894)

A girl dressed in a kimono, reclining on a bench. Probably the Geesje Kwak model. Inspired by Japanese prints, Breitner painted thirteen paintings of a girl in a kimono between 1893 and 1896. She always has a different posture and the kimono differs in color. The eye-catcher here is the embroidered white silk kimono with the red trimmed sleeves and orange-colored belt. The dreamy girl is sixteen-year-old Geesje Kwak, a seamstress and one of Breitner's regular models.
