Isaac Israels (1890 - 1901)

In contrast to the painters of the Hague School, Isaac Israels depicted the light, touristy side of Scheveningen. He often used models, in this case acquaintances of the painter: Suze Pont, Agatha Pauw and her little sister. Israëls worked quickly: 'Above all, don't work too much, don't work more than two hours in a row, don't pick too long, then you won't be fresh anymore.'
